Campaigning on your behalf

APIL accredited lawyers are dedicated to trying to prevent avoidable injuries by raising awareness of health and safety issues and dangerous products.

APIL campaigns target MPs, civil servants, local officials, the press and the general public to promote a "safety culture" throughout the UK.

We support a society in which people take responsibility for the safety of others, where risk is managed properly to encourage activity, while keeping people safe.

Accident or Negligence booklet
Press stories about conkers being banned in school playgrounds, health and safety being taken too far, and hanging baskets being removed have created a false impression of the personal injury system.

Confusion often arises about the difference between an accident and negligence, and this is tackled in our Accident or Negligence booklet.
The guide aims to help people understand the difference between an accident and negligence and correct common misconceptions about how the law applies when a person has been injured by someone else.

The booklet has received a positive response in many quarters including MPs, councils, play organisations and schools. We hope to distribute it even further to ensure people are aware of their rights and responsibilities.

The Health and Safety Executive has designed a web page, which aims to combat current myths surrounding health and safety. Please follow this link to view this month's myth: http://www.hse.gov.uk/myth/index.htm

Think Rehab!
“Rehabilitation” is a term which encompasses a number of different forms of assistance, all designed to help injured people regain the closest possible level of mental and physical ability which the person possessed prior to being injured. Examples of rehabilitation include physiotherapy, psychological help, provision of equipment and help with arranging transport to work. Rehabilitation may therefore be of significant benefit to injured people and for this reason APIL urges its members to consider whether it is appropriate in every case.
APIL’s Best Practice Guide on Rehabilitation has been published to provide a guide to members on the process of arranging rehabilitation. The guide is published here so that injured people, rehabilitation providers, insurers or interested members of the public can read the guidance that APIL is providing to its members with regard to rehabilitation.
