About Edel Selby
Edel has worked as a Claimant personal injury lawyer from March 2004 and qualified as a Solicitor in 2008, she specialises in handling complex and high value cases to include traumatic brain injury, serious orthopaedic injury and fatalities.
Edel joined Minster Law in September 2012 working in the serious injury department. She is an Associate and the firms Principal Solicitor for Amputee Claims. She primarily deals with serious injury claims arising out of road traffic accidents; acting for motorcyclists, cyclists, drivers and passengers.
Although she deals with all aspect of PI claims she is very experienced and has a particular interest in running cases involving serious orthopaedic injuries including amputations. Edel is a powerful advocate of rehabilitation as a fundamental component of personal injury litigation, and that the individual needs of an injured person must be at the center of any legal representation.
Edel is an experienced litigator dealing with liability, causation and quantum disputes. Edel takes a proactive and pragmatic approach to her claims with a common-sense approach to litigation. Edel has a reputation for approaching cases with pragmatism and always puts her client first, showing great empathy in looking after the needs of clients and supporting their family units.
She is considered to be very approachable and has excellent client care. Edel is an Accredited Litigator with APIL.
Edel is currently responsible for running a case load of approximately 10-15 high value cases as well as managing a team comprising of Solicitors, Legal Executives and Paralegals. She is responsible for their supervision. She also acts as point of contact for others within the firm to discuss serious orthopaedic injury cases.
During her career Edel has secured millions of pounds in damages for clients and is experienced across the personal injury spectrum having acted in a broad range of cases to include RTC/ motorcycle accidents as well as employers liability, public liability and industrial disease matters to include NIHL and asbestos cases (to include both living and deceased mesothelioma cases).
EXPERIENCE
Prior to joining Minster Law, Edel was an Associate in a well-established high street York firm.
RECOGNITION
Edel has been a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) for some years. She has attended a number of training sessions offered through APIL.

Edel now specialises in serious road traffic accidents, her approach is to place a strong emphasis on rehabilitation, early case management and providing exceptional client care.
