Repetitive strain injuries (often known as work related upper limb disorders or WRULD) are often a result of repetitive daily work tasks. Overuse and strain of muscles and tendons, or the working environment, can lead to repetitive strain injury, particularly in the hands and wrists though others areas, such as the forearm, elbows, neck and shoulder can also be affected.

Types of repetitive strain injury

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome - pressure on a nerve passing through the wrist
  • Tendonitis - inflammation of a tendon
  • Tenosynovitis – inflammation of the sheath that surrounds a tendon
  • Bursitis - inflammation of a bursa (a fluid-filled sac which forms under the skin, usually over the joints and between tendons and bones).
  • Trigger finger - a condition which affects the tendons in the hand

Claiming compensation for repetitive strain injury

Employers are obliged to protect their employees from repetitive strain injuries, if your employer has failed in their duty you may be entitled to make a claim for compensations. Only accredited specialist repetitive strain injury lawyers are listed on this page.

It is strongly recommended that you should consult with two or three accredited injury lawyers before making a decision on who to instruct.
