David Knight

David has 18 years’ experience working in the mental health field. He originally trained as a Mental Health Nurse working for 4 years on the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy unit at University College London. He then graduated from UCL as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist in 1998.

David moved to the Priory Hospital in North London where he gained his initial experience working with patients with Body Dysmorphic Disorder as part of Dr David Veale’s team. After moving to Manchester and running a CBT unit in the NHS he finally set up in private practice as Manchester CBT at Kings Court, 2-4 Exchange Street, Manchester, M2 7HA.

Alongside his private practice he has spent the last 4 years working as a part time lecturer and supervisor at Chester University on their Masters course for CBT.

He runs a specialist clinic dealing with Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDDTherapy.co.uk) and regularly lectures to medical practitioners on this seriously disabling condition to help improve how BDD is recognised and treated..

A large part of his work is undertaken in the field of personal injury dealing with the effects of PTSD and comorbid conditions of depression, anxiety, OCD and BDD. He is used by local business people and professional sports people to help overcome the effects of psychological stress and improve their performance.   

David is accredited by the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, BABCP.

His interests outside of CBT include running, writing and poker
