Ian Glendenning

Ian Glendenning BEng(hons) CEng CMIOSH MIMM MAE

Chartered Engineer and Chartered Health & Safety Practitioner

Ian has provided expert evidence in over 500 occupational disease cases. His specialises in control of lung disease risks including asbestos related problems and occupational asthma. 

Ian has extensive experience of providing evidence in complex and high profile cases including the lead cases in British Coal Respiratory Disease Litigation – believed to be the largest UK personal injury case ever.  His evidence has been praised by the Courts, HHJ Bullimore recently noted that “Mr Glendenning’s report is a model of clarity and thoroughness” and said that he was “... impressed by Mr Glendenning’s evidence [who] was measured and moderate ... the overall effect was compelling”.

Ian is active in his field and is able to draw on experience of working with employers in a diverse range of industries to achieve practical control of asbestos and other health & safety risks. He can also comment from the perspective of the enforcing authorities on the basis of his experience as a Factory Inspector with the Health & Safety Executive (HSE).
