I qualified as an occupational therapist in 1987 at the Liverpool Institute of Further Education, and as a registered Health Care Professional, I have worked as an occupational therapist since then.

I work as an independent consultant having spent 13 years in the Kirkpatrick Evans organization (a partnership I co-founded in 1990 and which I incorporated into N-Able Services Ltd in November 2002).

For the past 18 years I have been providing expert advice to solicitors, insurance companies, housing associations and individuals. In particular, I prepare personal injury litigation reports on the needs of individuals involved in medical negligence actions or criminal compensation claims and of those involved in road traffic and work related accidents. The role frequently involves working on joint statements, attending barrister’s conferences and giving evidence in court.

I have extensive experience in; orthopaedics, amputations, neurology, rheumatology, visual impairment, learning disabilities as well as paediatrics and head injury. As well as preparing reports my involvement has included; setting up care packages using private care agencies or statutory home care, advising on equipment, home adaptations and alterations, and advising regard re-housing into more suitable accommodation.

I continue to work clinically both as a case manager and as a therapist for clients with a range of disabilities, assisting them to maximise their full potential. My clients include children, young adults with cerebral palsy, people with spinal injuries, clients with asbestos related conditions and clients with head injuries. I also subcontract to local NHS trusts and local private hospitals.

I am involved with the specialist sections of the Collage of Occupational Therapists, in particular the Specialist Section in Housing and Independent Practice. I have frequently presented at conferences and presented papers at National OT conferences.

I am checked and approved as an Expert Witness by the Law Society.
