About Chris Thorne
Chris is Head of The Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury team at national law firm Clarke Willmott. A partner who throughout his career, has practised in the field of personal injury and clinical negligence law, representing the interests of the victims of medical accidents, road traffic accidents and accidents at work, including those suffering injuries of the utmost severity, however caused.
Chris has unique experience in the field of cryogenics and andrology in relation to IVF treatment as the solicitor representing the three groups of claimants in the Southmead, Sheffield and Edinburgh sperm destruction actions. Following the landmark judgment in the Court of Appeal in Yearworth and others v North Bristol NHS Trusts  EWCA Civ 37 establishing that sperm is property, Chris was nominated "The Times" Lawyer of the Week. He also has particular interest in claims arising from brain injuries suffered in accidents.
He is an accredited member of the Law Society specialist Clinical Negligence Panel as well as a member of the Law Society Personal Injury Panel. Chris is also Regional Coordinator for APIL in Devon and Cornwall, an APIL Senior Litigator, a member of AvMA and Chairman of Trustee of Headway Devon.
Ranked as Band 1 for both Clinical negligence and Personal Injury in Chambers and Partners 2016 . Chris is noted to be " A thoroughly impressive senior solicitor with amazing powers of persuasion and excellent judgment".
