Northern Ireland Assembly

Damages (Return on Investment) Bill
Legislation has been passed by the Northern Ireland Assembly which changes how the personal injury discount rate is set in Northern Ireland. The Damages (Return on Investment) Bill, introduced by justice minister Naomi Long, moves Northern Ireland away from Wells v Wells. Instead, the Department of Justice has adopted a framework similar to the one used in Scotland to set the discount rate.
