About Carolyn Heaton

I am a Partner in the Leeds serious injury team of Irwin Mitchell LLP and head the highly regarded Leeds neuro team. Myself and my team  specialise in high-value and complex adult and paediatric brain and  spinal injury claims. Having a serious injury not only affects the injured person but their family and friends as well and the main objective for me and my team is to ensure my clients get access to first class rehabiliation in order to improve their chances of returning to a fulfilling life.  As part of this we look at various issues including care, therapies, treatment, equipment, housing, transport and employment/education. The work which my team does is also complimented by our public law, court of protection and private client teams which enables clients to have all of their accident related legal problems dealt with by one highly regarded organisation.

I am regulalry asked to take over cases from other solicitors who are not progressing the client's  case or rehabilitation.  These clients are often recommended to come to me and my team by health professionals, case managers and therapists working in the field of serious injury and in most of those cases I have made a signficant difference to the overall value of the claim, sometimes by millions of pounds.  Over the course of my career,   I have obtained compenstion for my clients totalling  in excess of £300,000,000 but, more signficantly, I  have helped clients to restablish and improve the quality of their lives following their devastating injuries.

Myself and my team are ranked in the first tear of Chambers, legal directory, which is complied on the basis of recommendations from clients, barristers, medical and health professionals.  I am also a Fellow of APIL.
