Alexander Davenport

Irwin Mitchell LLP, Cambridge

Alex works as a Practice Development Lawyer for the Complex Personal Injury department of Irwin Mitchell LLP.

Alex is involved in the training and knowledge management of the firm along with the drafting of policy, guidance and best practice for fee-earners arising from law reforms, legislation and court judgments. He is the lead and subject matter expert within Irwin Mitchell for the new digital portals being developed and deployed by HMCTS around the Civil Courts. He is a member of HMCTS Early Adopter Group and has provided User Acceptance Testing and feedback for HMCTS on the MyHMCTS system.

Prior to transferring to this role he primarily dealt with claims by service personnel against the Ministry of Defence for injuries sustained during the course of their service. This encapsulated all forms of military injuries including noise-induced hearing loss, heat injuries, non-freezing cold injuries, orthopaedic injuries etc. Additionally Alex worked on international and domestic aviation claims for families of those killed in air accidents or those injured in such incidents.

He also has acted for families at inquests related to the deaths of service personnel within all three services and have been involved in inquests relating to the RAF Puma crashes, Afghanistan Friendly Fire incidents, and various Red Arrows Inquests.

Before his legal career he studied Medical Biochemistry and undertook Pilot and Officer Training within the RAF.
