About Adrian Budgen

I joined Irwin Mitchell in 1990 and became a partner in the Complex Personal Injury department in 1994.  I am the Lead Partner for the PI department in Sheffield and I am also the National Team Leader for the Asbestos/Workplace Illness & Disease Group. 

I have a special interest in asbestos related disease cases, particularly mesothelioma.  I've written and lectured widely on the subject of asbestos cancer and personal injury litigation. 

I had the sad privilege of representing June Hancock who was the first environmental asbestos victim in the UK to be awarded compensation and also achieved the highest award for an industrial disease/fatal injury case of £4.37 million.  I have represented several hundred mesothelioma sufferers over the course of the last 33 years. 

I am a founding trustee of the June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fund and am also a director/trustee of the Sheffield Occupational Health Advisory Service.  I am a member of the Asbestos in Schools Group.  I regularly attend meetings of the All Party Parliamentary Occupational Safety and Health Group - Asbestos Sub-Committee.  I am Chair of the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation, an independent charity, and a longstanding supporter of Mesothelioma UK. Irwin Mitchell has been appointed to Mesothelioma UK's Legal Panel and I am the firm's lead representative. Outside of work, I love to spend time with my better half, Jane, my children and family (including our two Golden Retrievers Hazel and Daisy!) and I also enjoy gardening and the great outdoors.
