About Emma Crowther
Emma is a Senior Associate Solicitor in Irwin Mitchell's national abuse team, specialising in civil actions, particularly cases involving women who have experienced sexual violence/abuse. Emma is a recognised expert in her field and has 10+ years' experience of successfully representing some of the most vulnerable clients in this complex and developing practice area.
Emma has been successful at trial in pursuing a case some 30+ years outside of limitation and is regularly instructed on complex cases, including those against schools, local authorities, religious, sports and other organisations. Emma has experience of representing Claimants in group actions, where multiple individuals have experienced abuse within the same setting, and she was the first solicitor in the UK to achieve out of court settlements against Uber for sexual assaults committed by one of their drivers – being the first known cases of their kind in the UK.
Emma is former winner of Rising Star of the Year (Young Lawyer) and has been featured in the Law Society Gazette, Lawyer in the News for her work. Emma has also been ranked in both Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners and has been featured in various national and international press articles. Emma works closely with various external organisations to deliver training and to provide legal advice regarding civil actions following sexual violence/abuse.
