About Helen Tomlin
I am a Solicitor, specialising in handling claims on behalf of sufferers of asbestos related disease, and their families. I have specialised in asbestos claims for over 17 years, since I qualified in 2004.
As part of Irwin Mitchell's specialist asbestos team, I work on behalf of sufferers of asbestos related disease, and their families, to investigate and settle claims for people suffering with asbestos related injuries, including mesothelioma, lung cancer, asbestosis and diffuse pleural thickening.
I am a fully qualified asbestos specialist, having been awarded the APIL specialist practitioner accreditation. As a firm, we are also APIL accredited as a specialist practice, and we are part of the Mesothelioma UK Legal Panel. Mesothelioma UK is a charity working specifically to help and support patients with mesothelioma, and to be recognised as a specialist by them is a true honour. Our specialism in providing top class advice to asbestos sufferers is also recognised by the Forum of Asbestos Victim Support Groups, where we are delighted to be on the legal panel for many Forum groups nationwide.
During my time working with people diagnosed with asbestos injuries, I have had the privilege to meet some truly remarkable people. I have pursued claims for teachers, office workers, tax inspectors, caravan builders, power station employees, electricians, plumbers, railway workers, caretakers, hospital staff and many more. One of the reasons I love my job so much is the insight it gives me into so many different walks of life. I find the people that I represent endlessly fascinating, and to see the courage and dignity that they display in the toughest of times is inspiring.
