About Laura Weir
After studying Law at Aberystwyth University, Laura moved to London where she studied her LPC at the University of Law, Bloomsbury. On securing a Distinction, Laura joined the clinical negligence department at Irwin Mitchell’s London office as an Assistant to a Partner. Within a year, she was awarded a highly competitive training contract. Laura undertook seats in clinical negligence, public law and Court of Protection and qualified as a Solicitor on 1 March 2017.
Laura moved to Stewarts’ London office in January 2018. At Stewarts she specialised in claims valued at over £1.5million. In March 2019 she was promoted to Associate.
Laura and her husband made the decision to move back to Mid Wales in December 2019 so that they could raise their daughter surrounded by family and friends.
Laura joined the clinical negligence department at Lanyon Bowdler in September 2020 as a medical negligence solicitor, before becoming a Partner in January 2024. Laura leads the team of solicitors representing families in maternity negligence claims, who have been impacted by the failings in maternity care at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. Laura has spent the last 4 years working tirelessly for her clients, securing life-changing settlements with empathy and compassion. Laura consistently receives excellent feedback from her clients.
Laura specialises in helping people make birth injury claims, childbirth brain injury claims, cerebral palsy claims, claims for negligence leading to neonatal death, amongst a variety of other medical negligence claims involving children and/or mothers.
Laura also has substantial experience in cancer negligence and cancer misdiagnosis claims, especially breast cancer negligence, cervical cancer negligence, and ovarian cancer negligence claims, as well a record of successfully settling claims for spinal cord injury negligence.
