About Stephanie Prior

I am Head of Osbornes Medical Negligence & Child Abuse Department. I handle a mix of medical negligence work and personal injury claims, with a particular interest in birth injuries, brain injuries, complex medical claims including spinal injuries, fatal accident cases & inquests, ophthalmology, maternity and gynaecology and child abuse claims. I recognise that child abuse cases are incredibly traumatic and painful to bring. I specialise exclusively in injury and abuse compensation claims and ensure that you as my clients have the opportunity to meet with me face-to-face and to speak to me whenever they need to, in the strictest of confidence. I am willing to listen and provide advice, assistance and guide you through the per litigation process before taking on your case.

Before training as a solicitor I was a Registered General Nurse specialising in chest medicine, ITU,  A & E and I also worked overseas in Australia for a year and I worked in ITU and A & E in Sydney.  The knowledge and skills I gained are an invaluable asset to my current work. I qualified as a solicitor in 1997.

I am a member of the Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Panel. I am a member of the AvMA Referral Panel and I in the past I have chaired and regularly spoken at the AvMA Medicine for Lawyers conference. I am also a member of the Association of Child Abuse Lawyers, a Senior Litigator CPIL and APIL.

I have a Diploma in Forensic Medical Science and I am one of the Speciality Editors to Medicine Science and the Law and  I contribute bimonthly to the Personal Injury Law Journal.

I am a member of the Academic Advisory Board and the fellow of the Academy of Forensic Medical Sciences. I lecture on negligence to MSc Forensic Medicine post graduate students and I am an examiner for the Diploma in Forensic Medical Science. I am also the Director of Quality Governance and Legal Services for Health  Practice Associates Council (HPA) I was awarded Clinical Negligence Lawyer of the Year 2019 at the Personal Injury Awards in November 2019. I am a council member of BAFS and I am a Trustee of Yellow Door a charity providing assistance to young people aged 11-25.

I absolutely love yoga, walking and healthy living and spending as much time as I can with my two teenage children, as well as baking, travelling to different places for new adventures, blogging and the occasional tweet.
