Colin Ettinger

Colin conducted personal injury work for over 40 years. He led the personal injury department at Irwin Mitchell’s London office for over 20 years until he retired in 2019

Colin has been active in APIL since its formation. He is a past president of APIL and a life member, a Senior Fellow Emeritus and held APIL accreditation for spinal injuries and brain injuries accreditations.  His involvement continues as a Corporate Assessor.

He is also a Patron of RoadPeace, a charity that supports and campaigns in the interests of victims of road crashes.

Colin has always been committed to ensuring that injured people maximised recovery from their injuries by using rehabilitation process wherever possible.  His work in this area is acknowledged by being appointed vice president of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.  

Colin has been regarded in Chambers and Legal 500 directories as a leading personal injury lawyer.  He has received many plaudits in these directories including “stands head and shoulders above everyone else in the country for catastrophic injury – there is no one else who has got anything like his experience or ability’.

In November 2019, Colin received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Personal Injuries Awards event.
