Samuel Robert Elsby

Sam Elsby qualified as a solicitor in 1984. He has undertaken personal injury work only since 1990, when he also joined APIL.

For over ten years, Sam was a partner at general practice high street firm in Eastbourne, before leaving to set up his own practice in early 2003. In February 2018 his firm merged with Dean Wilson LLP in Brighton, where he joined their personal injury and clinical negligence team as a consultant.

He takes on a wide range of cases, both by reference to value and cause of action. He has particular expertise in child/adolescent brain injury cases; fast-track trial advocacy and Inquests.

He has over 20 years experience as a Court of Protection Deputy.

Sam was the south east regional co-ordinator of APIL for 9 years. He is a Fellow of APIL and was elected as vice-president in May 2019 and was APIL president for the year 2020/2021.

He has delivered training for APIL and other organisations including CILEx and The Law Society.

Outside the law his main interests are amateur theatre directing and cycling.
