William (Mac) Mackay has more than 40 years’ experience advising, coaching, consulting and teaching in adventurous activities, physical education, adventure tourism sector, including snow sports activities.
Mac is Chair of the Institute of Expert Witness (IEW) and as a former Army officer specialises in armed services cases having worked as an Army PT Master of Arms in the Royal Army Physical Training Corps for over 20 years. As part of his military career, Mac was appointed to the Land Accident Investigation Team and advised the Treasury Solicitor (Govt Legal Services) as a SME.
He is an active International Federation of Mountain Guides Association (IFMGA) and a former International Ski Instructors Association (ISIA), teacher/guide, and former president of the Association of British Mountain Guides (BMG) who are one of the early members of the IFMGA.
Mac currently advises on mountain/skiing guiding/teaching in matters of accident investigation, worldwide to a number of organisations and adventure tourism companies.
In addition, Mac works as an independent consultant in a number of different areas of expertise, as an adviser for BS 8848 with the BSI and its corresponding ISO for competency of leaders and instructors within worldwide adventure tourism and sporting activities.
