Jerard is a specialist clinical negligence solicitor and Associate at Fletchers Solicitors in Manchester. He holds the Senior Litigator and Clinical Negligence Specialist APIL Accreditations and is an approved Assessor by APIL.
Between 2018 and summer 2024, he was APIL's clinical negligence special interest group coordinator (having been the group secretary in 2017). Jerard has been and continues to be a member of a number of APIL's working parties and is also part of the Clinical Negligence Annual Conference organising committee.
Most of his instructions tend to be in respect of gynaecology, neurological, complex orthopaedic and amputations and sensory injuries. Jerard has significant coronial experience, being regularly instructed in respect of inquests typically in relation to neonatal and maternal deaths, stillbirths and regulated drugs trials.
He is a firm advocate of mediation in clinical negligence and has contributed to PI Focus on several occasions.

Clinical Negligence:
- 7 figure settlement requiring Court Approval for a lady who sustained a brain injury due to delay in ambulance care.
- Failure to recognise and treat a third degree gynaecological tear (£650,000)
- Failure to diagnose bladder cancer (short life expectancy) causing need for stoma (£350,000)
- Failure to diagnose an ophthalmic injury (£240,000)
- Complex displaced ankle fracture (£200,000)
- Ulnar Nerve separation injury (£150,000)
- Wrong site urological surgery (£145,000).
Catastrophic Injury:
- An incomplete tetraplegia case following a road traffic accident with capitalised value exceeding £10 Million.
His most unusual past instruction was in respect of a drowning accident in Florida, which invoked umbrella insurance considerations, and settled for US$ 2 Million.
Jerard regularly delivers internal training at Fletchers and is a member of Manchester Law Society’s Civil Litigation Committee.
