Kelly Lingard

Joint Coordinator for APIL’s Yorkshire Regional Group
Solicitor, Irwin Mitchell LLP, Sheffield

Kelly Lingard is a solicitor in the Serious Injury team at Irwin Mitchell LLP in Sheffield, specialising in high value, complex catastrophic injury claims. Her work predominantly involves cases arising from traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and severe orthopaedic trauma.

Kelly has significant experience acting for vulnerable clients, including those who lack capacity. She regularly works alongside litigation friends, the Official Solicitor, case managers, and multi disciplinary expert teams to ensure that clients receive appropriate support not only during the litigation process, but on a long term basis to meet their lifelong needs.

Having progressed within the Serious Injury team as a paralegal, trainee solicitor and now as a qualified solicitor, Kelly has assisted on a number of multi million pound settlements. She is particularly experienced in cases involving complex rehabilitation needs, future care and accommodation, and the coordination of medical, therapeutic and support services.

Kelly’s work and commitment to the profession have been recognised through her nomination and shortlisting for Trainee Solicitor of the Year at the Yorkshire Legal Awards 2020 and Rising Star of the Year at the Sheffield District Law Society Awards 2021.

In addition to her legal practice, Kelly is actively involved in the brain injury community. She is Treasurer on the committee of Headway Barnsley, supporting individuals and families affected by acquired brain injury across the region. She is also Chair of The Sunday Centre, a Sheffield based homeless charity, reflecting her broader commitment to advocacy and support for vulnerable people.

Kelly was recently appointed Joint Coordinator for APIL’s Yorkshire Regional Group, working alongside Ewan Bain. In this role, she is passionate about delivering informative, practical training and creating opportunities for collaboration and networking for practitioners working in brain and spinal injury across Yorkshire.
