Stephanie Thomas has been a Consultant Medical Microbiologist at the Manchester University Foundation Trust (MFT) since 2010 and is currently Deputy Director of the UKHSA Public Health Microbiology Clinical Network Laboratories in England. She gained an honours degree in Biochemistry with Microbiology from St. Andrews University, Scotland and her medical degree from Dundee University. She completed higher specialist training in Medical Microbiology in Manchester, UK. During this time, she completed a Master’s degree in Diagnostic and Medical Virology at the University of Manchester and a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. She has a Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education. She holds an Adjuvant Assistant Professor post at the Institute of Public Health (IPH) in Abu Dhabi. In addition, she is the Royal College of Pathologists (UK) Country Advisor to the MENA region.
Stephanie areas of specialist interest include management of infections in the critically unwell patient, including those receiving Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) and management of complex vascular infections. She has been providing Expert Witness reports since 2015 and has been awarded the Cardiff University Bond Solon (CUBS) Expert Witness Certificate.
