Craig Evans

Partner, International & Cross Border Claims, Clyde & Co

Craig is a Partner at Clyde & Co and leads the firm’s International and Cross Border Claims team. He is widely recognised as a leading practitioner in complex international insurance litigation, acting for insurers, corporates and their insureds in high-value, multi-jurisdictional disputes.

Craig has significant experience advising on cross-border casualty, product and contractual claims, with particular expertise in matters arising from accidents abroad and disputes involving international travel operators, hotels and insurers. His practice focuses on defending catastrophic and high-value personal injury claims, including those involving road traffic accidents, public liability and employers’ liability exposures across multiple jurisdictions.

Expertise

Craig represents insurers and global clients in complex cross-border litigation, often involving jurisdictional challenges, applicable law issues, and policy coverage disputes. His work spans a wide range of international claims, including foreign accidents and incidents involving multiple parties and competing legal regimes.

He has developed a particular expertise in:

Craig regularly advises on claims across Europe and globally and has significant experience working with insurers and claims-handling agents on large, technically challenging matters. He has represented clients in numerous jurisdictions and regularly acts for clients in Europe and USA.

 Thought Leadership & International Work

Craig is actively involved in the development of international personal injury law and insurance practice. He is Chair of PEOPIL’s Insurance Special Interest Group, a member of FOIL’s European Sector Focus Team, and is engaged in cross-border legal initiatives, including work relating to the UK’s relationship with Europe post-Brexit. He is also a member of the Institute for European Traffic Law (IELTL).

He has advised government bodies on the impact of Brexit on cross-border claims and regularly contributes to discussions on the evolving international legal landscape.

Craig is also an experienced speaker, presenting on international insurance and legal issues both in the UK and overseas, and holds a regular guest lecturing position at a Spanish university (CEU Madrid).
