Julie has been a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon since 2015, following completion of her subspecialty pelvic floor surgical training in Oxford. She specialises in gastrointestinal surgery, general surgery and pelvic floor surgery.
She trained in Wales and London and completed an MD in 2011 from Imperial College, London. She is trained in laparoscopic and open colorectal and general surgery. She works with a multidisciplinary team including colorectal nurses, physiotherapists, gastroenterologists, chronic pain specialists and urogynaecologists.
Julie is the Chair of the Pelvic Floor Multidisciplinary team for Cardiff and Cwm Taf; Chair of Task and Finish Group on Pelvic Health - Faecal Incontinence 2018 for the Welsh Assembly Programme secretary (joint) for The Pelvic Floor Society.
Her research interests are colorectal cancer and bowel dysfunction that can result from this as well as injury from childbirth. She has published more than 30 publications and presented nationally and internationally.
