Gill is a committed and established campaigner for childbirth injuries/trauma and stomas, dedicating the last ten years to raising awareness and funds for both causes, accumulating over £100,000 through her efforts. She is a Guinness World Record holder for the first person with a stoma to swim the English Channel, raising £50,000 for her charity, Chameleon Buddies. The Buddies was established in 2022 to support women in the UK and Kenya to adapt to changes in their life following ostomy surgery or childbirth injury.
Gill is a member of the Council for the MASIC Foundation, an advocate for the Birth Trauma Association and in 2025 was awarded the British Empire Medal for services to those with a stoma. She passionately believes in people's ability to adapt to life changes following trauma and is determined to share her positive outlook with those who are struggling.
