Advanced Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Conference 2026

Please note that members are required to book to attend the AGM separately to the conference.

There is no cost to attend the AGM.

About Mike Benner

APIL Chief Executive

Mike joined the APIL team as Chief Executive in July 2019 after five years as the Chief Executive of the Society of Independent Brewers and, before that, a decade as the Chief Executive of CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale.

About Gordon Dalyell

Gordon Dalyell qualified as a solicitor in 1990, and joined Digby Brown, as a partner, in 1998. He heads up the network department.

He has wide experience in dealing with many areas of personal injury, including accidents at work, and road traffic accidents, as well as fatal accident claims and claims for miscarriages of justice. Gordon obtained rights of audience as a solicitor-advocate (civil) in 2003. He has been accredited as a Specialist in Personal Injury Law by the Law Society of Scotland. He is ranked in both the current Legal 500 and Chambers UK Guides.

He is a fellow of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and has been the executive committee member for Scotland since 2010. He was president of the Association for the year 2019-20. He has given evidence, on behalf of the Association, to the Scottish Affairs Committee at Westminster, and to the Justice, and Economy, Energy, and Fair Work Committees at Holyrood. About Brett Dixon

Brett is a consultant solicitor with higher rights of audience for all civil proceedings. His specialism is civil procedure with a specific interest in digital change. He also provides training and consultancy services in relation to personal injury, technology and practice development. 

He is also the Deputy Vice President Elect of the Law Society of England & Wales. He has been the president of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers on two occasions. He is a senior fellow of APIL and chair of the Senior Fellow Appointments Committee. He is involved in decisions in relation to interventions in civil proceedings recently including Belsner v Cam, Ho v Adelekun, and Hassam v Rabot along with judicial reviews by APIL of the fixed recoverable costs rules and the discount rate. He is a past member of the Civil Procedure Rule Committee and the current legal expert member of the Online Procedure Rule Committee. Matt Tuff specialises in catastrophic injury cases and is a Senior Associate in the Major Trauma Service at Moore Barlow LLP. He is accredited as a Senior Litigator with APIL. He is also trustee at the brain injury charity Headway South West London.
