Overview

This one-day in-person course will help you address the difficulties of representing people with injuries that might not always be visible but which can have a devastating effect on their personality and behaviours, with severe consequences for them and everyone around them. Held at Exchange Chambers in Manchester, the course provides practical guidance and insights for managing complex brain injury cases.

Many aspects will be covered during the day, including practical strategies for client interviews, rehabilitation, case management, and working with insurers and defendants. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the legal, medical, and procedural challenges specific to brain injury claims.

  • Recognise a brain injury and understand how it overlaps with other injuries
  • Conduct first interviews with clients and/or their families, including funding considerations
  • Navigate discharge planning, NHS input, therapies, benefits, and housing issues
  • Understand mental capacity issues and Court of Protection involvement
  • Deal effectively with insurers and defendants from the outset, including interim payments and collaborative working under the Serious Injury Guide
  • Implement rehabilitation and case management strategies
